Letter of Instruction

Good afternoon Everyone,

I hope every post had a successful and fun end to the school year with presentations of our medal to JROTC, ROTC, Sea Cadet and other groups.  I hope we had a collection of pictures taken we can add to The Patriot magazine for this and a following issue.  I need a spreadsheet from each post on every medal that was presented this school year.  It should contain at a minimum the Post number, the cadet’s name and rank, who the presenter was, what was the name of the school or unit (high school or college), city and state, the date of the presentation.  It would be nice to know which service and if you have the POC contact information.  I have attached the excel format.  Please send this to natlawardscmtechair@s-a-m-s.org as soon as possible.  This has two purposes; 1. reporting the numbers of medals, certificates and challenge coins we presented as an organization and 2. helping develop our inventory for next year.

I would like to have your Post spreadsheets no later than close of business on Friday, June 28, 2024.

For those who took pictures, please send your pictures to natlpatrioteditor@s-a-m-s.org and copy natlawardscmtechair@s-a-m-s.org.  Please only send one picture per cadet award with a small blurb similar to the example below.  Make sure the picture is saved under the cadet’s name so we can put the picture and comments together.  If you have technical challenges, please reach out to a fellow post member for assistance.  I can help as well.  Depending on when you send them will determine which edition of the Patriot they appear in.

Example:

Cadet Baigas– Post 1775 Commander and National Commander Kenneth Lloyd presents the SAMS medal to Cadet Kennedy Biagas from Rocky River HS US Army JROTC unit on May 15, 2024, in Charlotte, NC.

Let me know if you have any questions about this request.  I look forward to sharing the news of the total number of medals and challenge coins we presented this year from all our posts.  Thank you.

Albu gu brath,

Marshall
