Ken’s resignation as NC

To All SAMS Members:

Effective at 12:00 a.m. tonight 12/31/2025, I am regretfully resigning my position of National Commander.

I have greatly enjoyed my tenure as your SAMS National Commander and know that I leave the position in better shape than what I found it to be when I took the seat January 2023. My administrative Executive Committee and the Council members have worked hard to restore the organization and made it even more solid than before. We have had stumbling blocks but we have over come them and made decisions that will make the organization stronger than ever.

The one major issue that still exists is the lack of volunteers to see that all the positions are filled and work gets done. We need younger Veterans to get involved to help carry SAMS into the future and beyond. Having served as National Commander, I can only say that it gave me great pleasure and knowledge that I didn’t have before. The remarkable people that I met and worked with were an inspiration to me that I will carry with me the rest of my life.

Due to my continuing health problems I am stepping down and my replacement will be the National Vice Commander, Robert Donaldson until at which time an election is held and the position is open for nominations. I know that those in their positions are dedicated to seeing our organization grow and with our new National website, and other tools we created, it will help our Regional Commanders, Post and Camp Commanders grow their membership to levels never experienced before. There will be many new surprises coming forth from this Administration which I believe was needed. I hope everyone appreciates their efforts and hard work.

As I leave my position, I know that there is now stronger and better financial support rebuilt and investment possibilities for making SAMS run more efficiently and streamlined.

My only regret is that we were unable to keep an Editor for the Patriot Magazine in place and see it published quarterly. We have had to outsourced it to a local printer and are awaiting updates from RCs and PCs to release it to press.

I greatly appreciate the support I received from the membership and hope that everyone will support Robert Donaldson so that he can continue the work and plan of action we created to make SAMS a stronger and more successful Veterans organization and Society.

I hope The New Year of 2026 brings everyone good health, prosperity and happiness.

Sincerely,
Kenneth A. Lloyd,
SAMS National Commander
