Junny O. Jackson

    Junny was born in Jackson County, North Carolina, and was a resident of this area most of his life. Junny spent ten years in the Air Force, served in Vietnam, Thailand and later went on to complete NCO Leadership School. He was a truck driver and retired after 40 years of service, driving last for Baker Furniture. Junny was a dedicated and faithful servant of the Lord, serving as a Youth Leader for many years. He was an active member of the Knights Templars, having been knighted on 5 April 2003 into the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem. His dedication to the Priory of Saint Thomas a’ Becket elevated him to the rank of Grand Officer of the Temple of Jerusalem (GOTJ). Junny’s role in the Priory allowed him to instruct new Postulates (prospective Knights/Dames) as the Priory’s Master of Postulates, a position he served honorably and faithfully for years.

    Junny was a member of Clan Campbell, where he served as Regional Commissioner. He was also a Life member of the Scottish-American Military Society, Post 1775, based in Charlotte, NC. In his years of service to Post 1775, Junny served as Post Commander, Vice Commander, and was SAMS National Deputy Commander. Junny was co-founder of the Triad Highland Games in Archdale, NC, and Inverness Highland Games in Inverness, Scotland.

    Junny enjoyed fishing, traveling, gardening, making new friends and sitting on the front porch drinking his coffee. His true love and passion; was spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Junny leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years, Ann Secreast-Jackson, his daughters, Jennie Baker, and Carol Johnson, his brother, Albert Lee Jackson, and several grandchildren. —PC Kenneth A.
